We are a nonprofit directory. We do not sell your information, and we do not pass your details to placement agencies or facilities unless you choose to contact them yourself.

The short version
AssistedLivingDirect.org is a free, independent directory operated by Medicaid CompassCare. You can browse the entire directory without giving us any personal information at all. We only receive personal details if you choose to send us a message through one of our forms.
- We never sell or rent your personal information.
- We do not share your details with placement agencies, facilities, or insurers.
- We do not require an account, and we have no paywall.
- We do not use your information to advertise to you.
Information you give us
We collect information only when you submit one of our two forms on the contact page.
Contact form
This form asks for your name, email address, your role (for example family member or case manager), a subject, and your message. We use this solely to read and reply to your enquiry.
Facility discrepancy report
This form asks for the facility name and county, the type of discrepancy, what our directory currently shows, what the correct information should be, and optionally the source of your information. Your name and email are optional on this form — you may report a discrepancy anonymously. If you do provide them, we use them only to ask follow-up questions or to let you know when the issue is resolved.
Contacting a facility
When you use the email option on a facility listing, we open a pre-written message in your own email application or webmail. That message is sent directly from you to the facility. It does not pass through our servers, and we do not receive a copy or keep a record of it.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting and analytics tooling records basic technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you visit, and the site you arrived from. We use this in aggregate to understand which parts of the directory are useful and to fix problems. We do not use it to build a profile of you as an individual.
Third-party services
We rely on a small number of outside services to run the site:
- Google Maps — powers the facility map. When a map loads, Google receives your IP address and may set its own cookies. This is governed by Google's own privacy policy, not ours.
- Zeffy — processes donations on our behalf. If you donate, the name, email, and payment details you enter go directly to Zeffy; we do not receive or store your payment information. That transaction is governed by Zeffy's own privacy and data policies, not ours.
- Analytics and hosting providers — process the technical information described above so we can keep the site running and measure usage.
These providers act on our behalf. We do not authorise them to sell your data or use it for their own advertising.
How long we keep information
We keep form submissions only as long as needed to respond to your enquiry or to verify and correct a data discrepancy. Discrepancy reports may be retained longer as part of our record of data corrections, but we remove personal contact details once the issue is closed.
Your choices
You can browse the entire directory without submitting anything. If you have sent us a message and want us to delete it, or you want to know what we hold about you, email us and we will handle it. Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and we will honour those requests regardless of where you are.
Children
This site is intended for adults researching assisted living. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Data accuracy and our sources
Facility information in this directory is compiled from the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ), Maryland Medicaid, and the SOAR program. It is provided for informational purposes and may not always reflect a facility's current status. If you spot something wrong, please report a discrepancy.
Changes to this policy
If we make meaningful changes to how we handle your information, we will update this page and revise the date above.
